CWG 2010 Delhi - Medal's Details

The front of the medal has the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi logo and dates. The back has the emblem of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
The medal is 6 mm thick with a diameter of 63.5 mm. The signature element’s starting fin is raised by 1 mm and it rises up to 3 mm on the last fin. The embossed logo and date is raised by 1mm.
The lanyard of the medal carries all six Games colors (pink, purple, green, red, yellow and blue) blending into each other. It is created with Delhi2010 brand and design elements.
Considering the various constraints in medal manufacture, Tombac Bronze (92% copper, 6% zinc and 2% nickel) was selected as base metal. This metal has the ability to flow under compressive force and allow formation of sharp and firm features in design.
OC CWG Delhi 2010 has ordered a total of 1,408 medals, which includes multiple medals for team events. The cost of producing each gold medal is Rs 5,539, while every silver medal costs Rs 4,818 and a bronze medal Rs 4,529. The total cost of producing these medals is Rs 81, 08,566 including the price of the boxes and lanyards.
Due to high projection the life of each die was very short which meant that total number of dies required for manufacture of medals are very high.

Saina Nehwal not optimistic about Games in Delhi

Looking at the progress of the stadiums, I don’t think we are capable of holding such big events. I went to the Melbourne Commonwealth Games (2006) and Beijing Olympics (2008) and I don’t think we can match them.

----------------------------------
But she apologies afterwards-
I am very very sorry. I should not have said such things. I don’t know why I said that.

Shakira Waka Waka Lyrics - World Cup 2010

Oooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehh

You're a good soldier
Choosing your battles
Pick yourself up
And dust yourself off
Get back in the saddle
You're on the front line
Everyone's watching

You know it's serious
We are getting closer
This isn't over
The pressure is on
You feel it ,But you got it all
Believe it,When you fall get up, oh oh
If you fall get up, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa

Cuz this is Africa
Tsamina mina, eh eh
Waka waka, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
This time for Africa

Listen to your God
This is our motto
Your time to shine
Don't wait in line
Y vamos por todo
People are raising
Their expectations
Go on and feed them
This is your moment
No hesitations

Today's your day
I feel it
You paved the way
Believe it

If you get down get up, oh oh
When you get down get up, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
This time for Africa
Tsamina mina, eh eh
Waka waka, eh eh

Grand Canyon Skywalk - Arizona - World’s highest structure that uses glass floor

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is an architectural marvel. The Skywalk was completed in March, 2007 after 2.5 years and 30 million dollars worth of hard work and engineering. This structure weighs an astonishing 1.571 million pounds, and was built to withstand an excess of 71 million pounds in weight on top of it. (That’s the equivalent of 71 fully-loaded 747 airliners piled one on top of the other!) This amazing ability to withstand weight as well as the forces of nature is due to the Skywalk’s 2 inch thick steel frame which is designed specifically to flex in the heat, cold, and wind. This frame is anchored to the Grand Canyon by casens and micro piles measuring 46 feet down into the solid bedrock. The specially-made German glass which forms the platform for our guests to walk the experience also plays a big part in the durability and beauty of Skywalk. Each of the 46 panes forming the walkway are constructed of 5-layers of glass bonded together and laminated, weighing in at 1,200 lbs a piece, and making the glass incredibly strong while still providing a crystal-clear view of the canyon below.

What is a Kindle?

First off, the Kindle is Amazon’s entry into the ebook reader market. It joins the Sony PRS-505 Reader which has been around for awhile but, it adds a lot of interesting features such as a free built-in wireless connection that allows you to tap into Amazon’s online bookstore from just about anywhere you can access Sprint’s EVDO cellular data network.
The Kindle is similar to the Sony Reader. The Kindle is 7.5 inches high by 5.3 inches wide by 0.7 inch deep and only weighs 10.3 ounces. That is about the same as your average paper back. Both devices have 4.9-by-3.6-inch (6-inch diagonal), 600 x 800-pixel screens. The screen on both readers uses a technology call E ink. E Ink is an electrophoretic display.

CartaLens Geospatial Digital Asset Management Solution

CartaLens makes it possible for organizations and decision makers to efficiently create a focused set of geospatially relevant information from the vast volumes of available information in their libraries, files and across the Web. The solution is ideal for companies, agencies and organizations that have extensive and distributed repositories of mixed content as it creates new opportunities for revenue by repurposing assets in new ways and delivers information when and where it is needed as assets become locationally aware. These target organizations include defense and intelligence agencies, news and media companies, energy firms, public safety agencies, insurance firms and online travel organizations.

"MetaCarta constantly pushes the boundaries of spatial search. CartaLens is a concept and a product that will push those boundaries well into unexplored and fascinating territory," said David Sonnen, IDC's Senior Consultant for Spatial Information Management. "We expect CartaLens to open a whole new set of possibilities for geographic search and discovery."

"CartaLens is the next generation for search and digital asset management technology," said Fran Marshall, President of National Geographic Maps. "Like National Geographic, most organizations have large repositories of digital assets. CartaLens has powerful geospatial tools that make it possible to bring users' digital assets together on the map. Whether they want to find a photo that was taken on a specific date, search their metadata for digital assets that meet certain criteria, or search the map and find all the photos, video and documents within a defined area, users can now collaborate within a Web-based system that brings their digital assets and content together."

CartaLens enables users to drag and drop assets on to a map which automatically geo-tags the asset for a future geographic search. Its flexible and intuitive interface enables users to identify, locate and access location-aware information by using a map, media thumbnails, or by querying the asset's metadata. By accessing the CartaLens results dynamically in Google Earth, users can collaborate with their team of subject matter experts in real-time and mix this critical intelligence with other available sources in a 3-D environment.
