World Water Day - 22 March

Internationally World Water Day is held every year on 22 March .
as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day.

Greatest Singer Alex Chilton Dies -member of Box Tops and Big Star

Chilton died at a hospital in New Orleans after experiencing what appeared to be heart problems.
He was 59 years old. Chilton passed away just days before his band Big Star was scheduled to play at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
He was born in Memphis, Tenn

Grand Canyon Skywalk - Arizona - World’s highest structure that uses glass floor

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is an architectural marvel. The Skywalk was completed in March, 2007 after 2.5 years and 30 million dollars worth of hard work and engineering. This structure weighs an astonishing 1.571 million pounds, and was built to withstand an excess of 71 million pounds in weight on top of it. (That’s the equivalent of 71 fully-loaded 747 airliners piled one on top of the other!) This amazing ability to withstand weight as well as the forces of nature is due to the Skywalk’s 2 inch thick steel frame which is designed specifically to flex in the heat, cold, and wind. This frame is anchored to the Grand Canyon by casens and micro piles measuring 46 feet down into the solid bedrock. The specially-made German glass which forms the platform for our guests to walk the experience also plays a big part in the durability and beauty of Skywalk. Each of the 46 panes forming the walkway are constructed of 5-layers of glass bonded together and laminated, weighing in at 1,200 lbs a piece, and making the glass incredibly strong while still providing a crystal-clear view of the canyon below.

What is IPL?

The Indian Premier League (often abbreviated as IPL), is a Twenty20 cricket competition initiated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and supervised by BCCI Vice President Lalit Modi, Chairman & Commissioner for IPL. The first season of the Indian Premier League commenced on 18 April 2008. It includes 8 teams or "franchises" consisting of players from different countries.

The third season of IPL started in India on 12 March 2010 and is due to last over a period of 45 days.Five new venues, Cuttack, Nagpur, Vishakhapatnam, Ahmedabad and Dharamsala, have been added. Other changes include removal of icon players and granting permission to players who were involved in the Indian Cricket League to play in the tournament.Also, it will be the first sporting event ever to be broadcast live on the popular video sharing website Youtube.
